Rudy Giuliani hospitalized in critical but stable condition

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been hospitalized in critical but stable condition, according to his spokesman. The circumstances surrounding his hospitalization were not immediately disclosed.

Ted Goodman, a spokesman for Giuliani, announced the hospitalization on Sunday but did not say when Giuliani was admitted or what condition led to his hospitalization.

“Mayor Rudy Giuliani is currently in the hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition,” Goodman said. “Mayor Giuliani is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and he’s fighting with that same level of strength as we speak.”

“We do ask that you join us in prayer for America’s Mayor Rudy Giuliani,” Goodman said.

Giuliani, 81, served as mayor of New York City from 1994 to 2001 and became one of the most recognizable political figures in the country after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. He later ran for president and became a lawyer and political ally of President Trump.

Giuliani was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2000 while still serving as mayor. He underwent treatment and later said the diagnosis was one of the reasons he withdrew from a U.S. Senate race against Hillary Clinton that year.

More recently, Giuliani was injured in a car crash in August 2025 that left him with severe injuries, including a fractured thoracic vertebra, as well as multiple lacerations and contusions.

No further details about Giuliani’s condition were immediately released.
