Puerto Rico man charged over threats to bomb White House, attack soldiers and Jewish people

A Puerto Rico man who identified himself as a Nazi has been charged with posting threats to bomb the White House and other locations and kill American soldiers, Jewish people and law enforcement officers, according to federal prosecutors.

Humberty Jesús Carrillo-García, 22, of Gurabo, was arrested Monday after a federal grand jury indicted him on five counts of making threatening interstate communications, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Puerto Rico.

Carrillo-García used TikTok and X to post the threats between March and June, according to the indictment and a motion for his detention. Prosecutors said he repeatedly expressed a desire to carry out a terrorist attack and encouraged others to commit violence.

In one post, Carrillo-García shared photos of himself holding a knife and a machete and threatened to use them against American soldiers and Jewish people.

Other videos called on viewers to take up arms against the United States, shoot soldiers, attack Jewish people and burn American businesses, synagogues and Christian churches, including those belonging to Jehovah’s Witnesses and Pentecostals.

Carrillo-García also called for police and CIA agents to be killed and threatened to bomb the White House, military installations in Puerto Rico, several banks and U.S. post offices, according to prosecutors.

Federal officials said the posts were intended to frighten people and encourage violence against law enforcement, military personnel and religious communities. Carrillo-García remains detained pending trial and faces up to five years in prison on each count if convicted.

“This individual made statements about his desire to do harm to various groups of people, including federal and state law enforcement, and motivated others to commit acts of violence against multiple groups of people,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Ramírez-Carbó. “The U.S. Attorney’s Office has no tolerance for illegal threats, especially threats that target innocent people.”
