An Indian man was killed and 63 people were injured when Iranian drones struck Kuwait International Airport and other civilian sites, causing extensive damage to Terminal 1 and forcing a halt to air traffic, according to Kuwaiti officials.

The attack happened yesterday, when drones and missiles targeted Kuwait International Airport and other facilities across the country.

Kuwait’s General Authority of Civil Aviation released surveillance footage showing the first moments of the strike on Terminal 1, including a drone impact and explosions inside and outside the airport.

The victim was identified by Kuwait Times as Manzoor Ahmed Rehman, a 54-year-old Indian resident of Kuwait from the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. He had arrived at Terminal 1 to board a flight to Mumbai via Bahrain when debris from the attack struck the terminal area.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs condemned the attack, saying an Indian national had been killed and several Indian citizens were injured.

“Since the onset of the conflict in West Asia, we have strongly urged that civilian population and civilian infrastructure must not be targeted,” the ministry said. “We again call upon parties to cease such attacks.”

Kuwait’s Health Ministry said emergency services handled the injuries at the airport, with 63 people taken to hospitals. The ministry said some victims suffered severe injuries, including fractures, bleeding, burns, smoke inhalation and other injuries caused by blast debris.

Footage from the airport showed a drone hitting near Terminal 1 and an explosion tearing through part of the building. Other surveillance video showed a blast inside a terminal hall, where people could be seen nearby moments before the explosion.

A photo released after the strike showed severe damage inside the building, with debris scattered across the floor and part of the ceiling structure exposed.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) denied responsibility for the strike, claiming through state media that the damage was caused by a malfunctioning U.S.-made Patriot missile system.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) rejected the claim, saying Iran struck the civilian airport with drones in what it called a “deliberate, calculated, and unjustified attack.”

The strike came after Iran launched ballistic missiles and drones toward Kuwait, Bahrain and civilian vessels in the Middle East, while U.S. forces carried out strikes on targets on Iran’s Qeshm Island, according to the U.S. military.
