Republican Party office in Wisconsin vandalized with spray paint, eggs

The Republican Party headquarters in Eau Claire County, Wisconsin, has been vandalized, with windows spray-painted and eggs thrown at the building, according to local officials. The party is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest.

The damage was discovered Saturday morning at the party’s office in Altoona, a city near Eau Claire in western Wisconsin. WEAU reported that the vandalism occurred sometime between Friday evening and early Saturday.

Fred Kappus, chairman of the Republican Party of Eau Claire County, told the station that the windows were spray-painted with the phrase “p*dophile protectors,” and that roughly a dozen eggs were thrown at the building.

“We feel this is just a wanton act of vandalism done against the Republican Party by somebody on the left,” Kappus told WEAU. “Apparently, based upon the slogan that was painted on our windows, they must suffer from ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome.’”

Kappus said Altoona Police were called to the scene and are reviewing nearby surveillance footage. Altoona Police Chief Kelly Bakken told WEAU that the department is actively investigating.

The local Republican Party said it is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible. No arrests have been announced.
