United Airlines plane hit 2 trucks at Denver airport in March, injuring 1 worker

A United Airlines plane struck two trucks while leaving a deicing area at Denver International Airport last month, injuring one ground worker and causing damage to the plane, according to a preliminary report released by the NTSB. No one on board was injured.

The incident happened on March 6 as United flight 605 was preparing to depart Denver for Nashville. The NTSB said the Boeing 737-824 hit two trucks operated by Aeromag while taxiing away from the pad. The plane was carrying 130 passengers, along with two pilots and four flight attendants.

According to the report, the crew believed the aircraft was clear to move after hearing a radio briefing and receiving clearance to taxi.

After the plane started moving and struck something, the crew stopped and contacted the ground team, which told them they had not been cleared to leave the pad and had hit two trucks.

The NTSB said one of the trucks was knocked onto its side. A ground worker suffered minor injuries.

Investigators said the plane sustained substantial damage, including to parts of both wings and the right aileron. The investigation is ongoing.
