4 people shot at Los Angeles shopping center
Four people have been shot, one fatally, during a drug deal gone wrong at a shopping center in northwest Los Angeles, local officials say. One of the suspects was taken into custody after causing a crash.
The incident happened at about 3:45 p.m. on Saturday when multiple people fired at each other during a drug deal gone wrong in the parking lot in front of Fallbrook Center, a shopping plaza which includes a Trader Joe’s in the West Hills neighborhood.
Footage from the scene showed gunshot victims being treated at multiple locations in the parking lot.
Officials confirmed that four people had been shot, including a 45-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene. The other three victims – two women and a man – were taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
One of the shooters fled the scene in a car and crashed a short time later, injuring one person, before jumping into another car. He and a female driver were later arrested after a short police pursuit.
LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said at least two of the gunshot victims could face criminal charges.
