U.S. carries out strikes in Venezuela – reports

Several explosions were reported across Caracas, Venezuela, early Saturday, though the cause has not been confirmed. Reports also indicated that aircraft were heard over the city.
The explosions were reported at around 2 a.m. local time on Saturday, or about 1 a.m. Eastern Time, with multiple blasts observed in several parts of the capital. Authorities have not confirmed where the explosions occurred, and no official details have been released.
Videos and photos shared on social media appeared to show smoke rising from multiple locations across Caracas following the reported blasts. One image appeared to show several sites that may have been affected. The authenticity and context of the footage could not be independently verified.
The reports come amid heightened tensions between the administration of U.S. President Trump and the government of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. The United States has not confirmed whether any military operation is underway.
