No devices found after bomb threat at hospital in Fullerton, California

A bomb threat led to a brief shelter-in-place at a hospital in Fullerton, California, but no explosive devices were found, accoridng to officials.

The incident began at about 2:05 p.m. Monday when police received a phone call claiming there was a bomb in the parking lot at St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton, in the Los Angeles area, according to the Fullerton Police Department.

“Multiple resources were deployed, including assistance from outside agencies and explosives-detection canines, to conduct a thorough search of the area,” Fullerton police said in a statement. “After an extensive search, no explosive devices were located in or around the hospital.”

Authorities issued a brief shelter-in-place as a precaution while officers and agencies searched the area. The shelter-in-place was lifted later in the afternoon and the hospital resumed normal operations.

“Officers worked closely with hospital staff to ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and employees throughout the incident,” the statement added.

Detectives are continuing to investigate to determine who made the call.
