Three people were killed and two others were seriously injured when a small plane crashed into a residential building in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, according to officials and local media reports. The aircraft went down shortly after taking off for São Paulo.
The crash happened on Monday after the single-engine plane departed from Pampulha Airport in Belo Horizonte, the capital of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, according to g1.
The pilot, 34-year-old Wellington Oliveira, and passenger Fernando Moreira Souto, 36, died at the scene. A third person on board, 50-year-old businessman Leonardo Berganholi, later died from his injuries, g1 reported.
Two other people, identified as Arthur Schaper Berganholi, 25, and Hemerson Cleiton Almeida Souto, 53, were rescued and taken in serious condition to João XXIII Hospital. The group was linked to Uaitag, a company in the technology and card-services sector, according to g1.
The aircraft crashed into a residential building after the pilot reported difficulty during takeoff to the airport control tower. No casualties were reported among residents of the building.
