1 U.S. service member killed in insider attack in Afghanistan
One U.S. service member has been killed and two others have been injured in an apparent insider attack in southern Afghanistan, military officials say.
The attack happened in the country’s southern region on Saturday, but details were not immediately released by the NATO-led Resolute Support mission.
The two wounded service members are undergoing treatment and are in stable condition, Resolute Support said. It did not disclose the type of incident.
There are currently more than 16,000 foreign troops in Afghanistan, most of them from the United States. Three services members have been killed so far this year, all of whom were from the United States.
