Video shows crash of cargo plane near Houston
Authorities in Texas have released surveillance video that shows a Boeing 767 cargo plane as it crashed into Trinity Bay near Houston on February 23, killing all three people on board.
The 15-second video shows Atlas Air Flight 3591 rapidly losing altitude near Anahuac in Chambers County. The aircraft disappears from view and splashes into Trinity Bay, which is followed by a plume of smoke.
The video was recorded by a security camera at the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office and provides the best glimpse yet of the cargo plane’s final seconds. Investigators are also listening to the cockpit voice recorder.
The cargo plane, which was carrying three people, was flying for Amazon Air on a flight from Miami to Houston. The cause of the crash is not yet known, but data recovered so far indicates that it happened quickly.
