5 injured in overnight shooting near downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Five people were injured in a shooting near downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida, according to officials. Police said the incident is believed to be isolated.
The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. on Sunday near the 300 block of Southwest Second Street, in an area near downtown Fort Lauderdale known for nightclubs and bars, according to police. Officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene.
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department said five victims sustained serious injuries. Authorities did not release the identities or ages of the victims.
Witness video showed police and emergency medical crews treating several victims at the scene, including two men and a woman, as large crowds gathered in the popular entertainment district.
No arrests have been announced and the motive for the shooting remains unclear. Authorities said there is no threat to the public.
