Pennsylvania man dies after becoming trapped in wood chipper
A man died after becoming trapped in a wood chipper in southeastern Pennsylvania, according to police.
The incident occurred at around 4:41 p.m. Monday in the unit block of Valley View Road in Lower Southampton Township, according to the police department. Officers, along with fire and emergency medical crews, were dispatched to the scene for an industrial rescue.
Police said the victim was a man in his 60s. He was found stuck in a wood chipper when responders arrived and later died from his injuries. His identity and the circumstances surrounding the incident were not released.
Lower Southampton and Penndel fire departments, the Tri-Hampton Rescue Squad, and the Bucks County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene, police said. The township is located in Bucks County, northeast of Philadelphia and near the New Jersey state line.
Earlier this year, a similar fatal incident occurred in South Florida, where an employee of a tree trimming service was killed after being pulled into a wood chipper while working at a government building in Ocean Ridge, about 12 miles south of West Palm Beach.
