4 found shot dead in Northern California home, including 2 juveniles
Four people, including two juveniles, were found shot to death inside a Northern California home, according to officials. Investigators have not identified the victims and have not determined whether the case involves a murder-suicide.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to a home on the 5400 block of Mill Water Circle in Rancho Cordova around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday after a 911 caller reported hearing gunshots.
Authorities said a second call then came from a man who claimed he fired the shots and said he was setting up booby traps.
A SWAT team entered the residence and found the bodies of a man, a woman, a boy and a girl, all killed by gunfire, sheriff’s office spokesperson Sgt. Edward Igoe told reporters.
The victims have not yet been identified, and officials said it remains unclear whether they are related, though neighbors told investigators a family of four lived at the residence.
Igoe said deputies could not confirm whether the man found dead was the same person who made the call claiming to have set traps. Explosive ordnance disposal teams responded to the scene but found no evidence of booby traps.
Detective Ámbar Vicente said investigators determined that the person who lived at the home had firearms registered in his name, including military-style weapons, and had a history of military service.
Authorities said they are not searching for any additional people in connection with the shooting and have not yet determined whether the case involves a murder-suicide.
