FBI offers $100,000 reward after vandalism of federal vehicles in Minneapolis
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the recovery of stolen government property and the arrest of individuals responsible for vandalism and theft of federal property in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the agency said.
The FBI posted a seeking information bulletin Thursday showing photos of heavily damaged vehicles and saying that on Wednesday, agents responded to an assault on a federal officer investigation in North Minneapolis.
Several government vehicles were vandalized and broken into, and government property was reported stolen from inside them, the announcement said. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information related to the incident.
“If you harm law enforcement or destroy/steal federal property this FBI will not hesitate to pursue you, find you, and bring you to the fullest extent of justice,” FBI Director Kash Patel said in a social media post.
Minneapolis has seen multiple confrontations involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other federal law enforcement officers in recent days following a fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent on January 7, which led to protests and community unrest.
On Wednesday night, another shooting involving federal agents was reported in North Minneapolis when a Venezuelan man was shot in the leg by an ICE agent during an enforcement operation, officials said.
The Department of Homeland Security said the man resisted arrest and attacked the agent with objects during a struggle before he was struck in the leg; he was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
That incident sparked protests and unrest in the area, during which federal forces deployed flash bangs and tear gas against crowds.
