Teen girl killed, another critically injured in Texas sledding accident
A 16-year-old girl was killed and another teenage girl was critically injured after the sled they were riding, which was being pulled by a vehicle, struck a tree in Frisco, Texas, according to police.
The crash occurred at about 2:26 p.m. Sunday in the area of Majestic Gardens Drive and Killian Court in Frisco, about 30 miles north of Dallas, the Frisco Police Department said.
Police said officers and firefighters responding to the scene found two 16-year-old girls with life-threatening injuries. Both were taken to local hospitals, where one of the girls died.
A preliminary investigation found that a 16-year-old male was driving a Jeep Wrangler while pulling the two girls on a sled, police said. Witnesses told investigators the sled struck a curb and then collided with a tree.
The identities of the victims were not released because they are juveniles, the Frisco Police Department said. The case remains under investigation.
