YouTube and YouTube TV hit by widespread outage
YouTube has been experiencing widespread issues across multiple countries, with DownDetector showing a surge in user reports beginning at 8:04 p.m. EST.
DownDetector has logged more than 300,000 reports in the United States alone indicating problems with the video platform. Additional reports are also coming in from users in multiple countries worldwide.
Users have reported that the homepage is not loading. In tests conducted by our newsroom, the YouTube homepage failed to load properly, though some individual videos and other features remained accessible.
The disruption is also affecting YouTube TV, according to user reports. It was not immediately clear what caused the outage.
In a post on social media, YouTube said: “We’ve been looking into this issue, and while we don’t have a fix just yet, we’re keeping a close eye on it. We’ll provide any updates when they’re available.”
DownDetector is also showing elevated reports for Google, Amazon Web Services and Cloudflare.
