75 injured in Iranian strike on apartment building block in Arad, Israel

An Iranian strike on the southern Israeli city of Arad has injured 75 people, according to Israeli emergency services. The strike caused extensive damage to a residential block with several apartment buildings.

The strike took place late Friday in Arad, a city in southern Israel near the Dead Sea and not far from Dimona, which was also struck hours earlier.

Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s national emergency medical service, said 75 people have been taken to hospitals, including 10 in serious condition, 13 in moderate condition, 48 with light injuries and four suffering acute anxiety.

It is not yet clear how old the victims are, though Israeli media reported there were infants among the injured.

The strike caused major damage across a block with several multi-story apartment buildings. At least four buildings sustained heavy damage, including collapsed walls, and fire broke out on a floor of one of the buildings.

MDA said it was evacuating victims with dozens of ambulances, mobile intensive care units and helicopters.

The strike came hours after an Iranian ballistic missile struck nearby Dimona, injuring nearly 50 people and damaging an apartment building.

The strikes on Arad and Dimona appear to be the largest single-casualty incidents in Israel so far in the current war.
