Deputy shot on Interstate 85 in South Carolina’s Anderson County; suspect dead
A sheriff’s deputy has been shot on Interstate 85 in Anderson County, South Carolina, and the suspect is dead, according to local officials.
The shooting happened Monday afternoon near mile marker 11 in Anderson County, in the northwestern part of the state, where the sheriff’s office said deputies were responding to the scene.
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that one deputy was shot, but officials did not release the extent of the injuries.
WSPA reported the deputy was flown from the scene to Greenville Memorial Hospital, though the deputy’s condition was not immediately known.
The Anderson County Coroner’s Office was also called to the scene and confirmed the suspect is dead. The suspect’s identity has not been released.
Officials have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
