2 children, 2 adults found dead in murder-suicide in Houston
Two children and two adults were found dead inside a home in Houston, Texas, after relatives requested a welfare check, according to police. Officials believe the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide.
The welfare check was reported at 5:36 p.m. on Monday at a residence in the 2100 block of Kingston Street in River Oaks, an affluent neighborhood west of downtown Houston. Central Division patrol officers were dispatched four minutes later and entered the home after arriving at the scene.
Officers found four people dead inside the residence, police said. All four are believed to be members of the same family.
Police said the call was made by a babysitter and a sister of one of the neighbors after they became concerned because they had not heard from the family. No one had entered the home before officers arrived.
Investigators said relatives had not heard from the family since Sunday evening. Police were still working to determine when the deaths occurred and said it was not clear whether the incident happened overnight or sometime Monday.
“We are not sure about a motive,” a Houston police spokesperson said at a press briefing. “We are still in the process of talking with neighbors. This does look like a family matter.”
Police said they were still processing the crime scene and had not confirmed reports that one of the victims was pregnant. The names and ages of the victims were not immediately released.
