3 killed in workplace shooting in Midland, Texas
Three people were found shot dead at a trucking company in Midland, Texas, after deputies responded to reports of gunfire, according to officials and local media reports.
The shooting was reported on Monday in the 5400 block of East Highway 80 in Midland County, where deputies found three people dead from apparent gunshot wounds, according to the Midland County Sheriff’s Office.
The victims were employees at JAT Partner Logistics, a company spokesperson confirmed to KWES. Two of them were identified by local outlets as 45-year-old Jeff Waugh and 31-year-old Ivan Duarte, both fathers of two.
The third person who died has not been publicly identified by local media outlets. Officials have not confirmed whether that person was the suspect.
A witness at the scene told KWES that an employee arrived at the business and shot two coworkers before turning the gun on himself, but authorities have not confirmed that account.
The Midland Police Department said the investigation is being led by the sheriff’s office and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
“The City of Midland and the Midland Police Department extend our deepest thoughts and prayers to the families, first responders, and everyone impacted by today’s tragic shooting in Midland County,” the department said.
