Three women were found shot to death inside a South Philadelphia home in an apparent double murder-suicide, according to police. The shooting happened a few blocks from the stadium where a World Cup match is underway.

Officers were called at about 5:32 p.m. Monday to a residential property on the 2800 block of South 10th Street for a report of a shooting inside, a Philadelphia Police Department spokesperson said.

When officers arrived, they found three adult women inside the home, each with a single gunshot wound to the head. Philadelphia Fire Department medics pronounced all three dead at the scene at 5:38 p.m.

The women were believed to be 67, 56 and 18 years old, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported, citing police. Their names were not immediately released.

Preliminary findings indicate the shooting was a double homicide and suicide, police said. A firearm was recovered at the scene.

The shooting happened about three blocks from Philadelphia Stadium, the World Cup name for Lincoln Financial Field, where France and Iraq are playing a match that began at 5 p.m., about 30 minutes before the incident.

Officials have not said the shooting had any connection to the match or the World Cup. The investigation remains active and is being handled by the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit.
