4 found stabbed to death in apparent murder-suicide at Florida home
Four people, including two children, were found stabbed to death inside a home in Doral, Florida, in what officials believe was a murder-suicide, according to local authorities.
Doral police officers responded at about 7:32 p.m. on Tuesday to a home near NW 111 Court and NW 72 Terrace in Doral, just west of Miami, for a welfare check, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. Officers entered the residence and found an unresponsive man, woman and two girls.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and pronounced all four people dead at the scene. Detectives with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Homicide Bureau took over the investigation.
The sheriff’s office identified the victims as 42-year-old Ryan Charles Whiten, 46-year-old Melanie Lauren Hyer, 11-year-old Savannah Whiten and 8-year-old Sienna Whiten.
Investigators said preliminary findings showed all four had suffered stab wounds. The investigation is leading detectives to believe the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide, according to the sheriff’s office.
No further details have been released, including who investigators believe carried out the killings. The Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner’s Office is working with detectives as the investigation remains active.
