Rapper Offset shot near South Florida casino
Rapper Offset was shot near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in South Florida and is hospitalized in stable condition, according to his spokesperson. Details about the shooting were not immediately clear.
The shooting happened Monday afternoon near the hotel and casino in Hollywood, part of the Fort Lauderdale area. A representative for Offset told Variety that he is being treated for a gunshot wound.
“We can confirm Offset was shot and is currently at the hospital receiving medical care,” the representative said in a statement to Variety. “He is stable and being closely monitored.”
Video from the scene showed two people being taken into custody by police in front of the lobby entrance.
Police can be seen taking two people into custody near the hotel entrance. One person is down. A second person struggles with an officer while appearing to move toward the person who is down. It is not clear whether the person on the ground is Offset.
Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, is a rapper from Georgia who rose to fame as a member of Migos, the hip-hop trio behind hits including Bad and Boujee. He has also released solo music and was previously married to rapper Cardi B.
The circumstances of the shooting and the extent of any injuries were not immediately clear, though TMZ reported that it was told Offset is “fine.”
