Two people were shot at a mall in Greenville, South Carolina, leading to evacuations and multiple people being taken into custody, according to police.

The shooting was reported just after 1 p.m. at Haywood Mall, where officers responded to reports of gunfire and found two people suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Greenville Police Department.

Police said multiple people were taken into custody after the shooting, but they did not say how many or explain their possible involvement. Video from the scene shared by Cody Alcorn of WXIA showed at least one person being detained in the mall parking lot.

The victims were transported to a hospital, but police did not release information about their conditions or identify them.

Police said the scene remained active but contained, and that there was no danger to the public. The mall has been closed for an undetermined amount of time while first responders work to clear the area.

The Greenville City Fire Department and other law enforcement agencies assisted with evacuations.

Police did not provide details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
