Actor and comedian Pat Finn, known for roles in The Middle, Seinfeld, dies at 60

Actor and comedian Pat Finn, best known for his roles on The Middle, Seinfeld, and numerous film and television projects, has died after battling cancer, according to his family. He was 60.

Finn died Monday evening at his home in Los Angeles while surrounded by family, according to family sources cited by TMZ. His family said he had been battling cancer for several years, though they did not specify the type.

“After a beautiful life filled with laughter, love, family, and friends, we share the heartbreaking news of the death of Pat Finn. Pat bravely battled cancer over the past few years,” his family said in a statement. “In Pat’s final days, he often showed the biggest signs when the Bears scored a touchdown. No pressure Bears — just saying — do it for Pat.”

Finn’s daughter, Cassidy Finn, posted a tribute following his death. “Dad… you were and are a role model and an inspiration to everyone you met,” she wrote. “I’ve never met a single person who had a bad thing to say about my dad. I feel like the luckiest person in the world that I got to call you my dad.”

She added, “My life is forever changed because of him. He taught me to be funny, positive, humble, to listen, to always try my best, to love, and to surround myself with the best people. But most importantly—you taught me kindness.”

Finn built a long career in television and film, appearing in dozens of shows and movies over several decades.

He was widely recognized for his recurring role as Bill Norwood on ABC’s The Middle and for guest appearances on series including Friends, Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

According to the family’s statement, Finn’s legacy “will be carried on through his beautiful family, including his wife Donna and three children, Cassidy, Caitlin and Ryan, and the thousands of friends and family that he impacted.”
