Private jet crashes into building in central Mexico, killing all 10 on board

At least 10 people were killed when a private jet crashed in central Mexico, according to Mexican officials. The aircraft struck an industrial building and caught fire.

The crash occurred on Monday near Toluca International Airport in the San Pedro Totoltepec area, a community located west of Mexico City, according to local and state authorities.

The aircraft was identified as a Cessna Citation III business jet operated by Jet Pro, which had departed from Acapulco and was bound for Toluca.

Authorities said eight passengers and two crew members were on board, and all were killed in the crash, including three children.

Audio from air traffic control communications captured moments before the crash recorded a pilot reporting an emergency, according to Mexican local media. In the recording, the pilot can be heard saying, “We are going down,” after controllers requested a status update.

The jet struck a warehouse that operates as a clothing manufacturing facility, officials said. The building was unoccupied at the time because operations had been suspended since the previous week, preventing casualties on the ground. The impact triggered a fire.

Mexico’s Secretary of Security said the country’s aviation authority will conduct the technical investigation to determine what caused the Cessna Citation III to go down and under what conditions the accident occurred.
