7 Disneyland cast members taken to hospitals after HAZMAT incident
Seven Disneyland cast members were taken to hospitals after a hazardous materials incident in a backstage area of the theme park in Anaheim, California, officials said.
The incident was reported at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday near the Star Tours attraction in Tomorrowland, according to the Anaheim Fire Department. Anaheim police said several cast members were transported to hospitals after an unknown odor was reported in the area.
Disneyland later said building materials being used by a contractor produced a reaction backstage at the park.
A resort spokesperson said several cast members were treated at the scene by paramedics and released, with seven cast members taken to local hospitals for evaluation. The cast members were reported to be experiencing dizziness and shortness of breath.
Out of an abundance of caution, nearby guest areas were temporarily cleared, the spokesperson said.
