Bomb threat on Frontier flight to Atlanta deemed non-credible

A bomb threat was reported on a Frontier Airlines flight after it landed in Atlanta, and the aircraft was taken to a remote area of the airport while law enforcement responded, according to the airline. The threat was later deemed non-credible.

The incident happened shortly after Frontier Flight 2539 from Columbus, Ohio, landed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Sunday and was taxiing to the gate, Frontier said in a statement shared by WXIA reporter Cody Alcorn. The airline said a passenger made a verbal bomb threat.

“As a matter of precaution and in coordination with local authorities, the aircraft parked at a remote location while law enforcement responded,” Frontier said. “Passengers deplaned via airstairs and are being bused to the terminal.”

Frontier later said the threat had been deemed non-credible. The incident was first reported by X account FlightEmergency.

A photo shared on social media by Lori Melendez showed a K9 unit and luggage on the tarmac next to the plane. Melendez said passengers sat on the tarmac for more than an hour before being told to get off the plane and stand on the runway while authorities searched the aircraft and bags.
