15 hospitalized after possible boat explosion near Miami
At least 15 people have been hospitalized after a possible boat explosion near Miami, Florida, according to fire officials and local media reports.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said crews responded at about 12:50 p.m. on Saturday to reports of a possible explosion at Haulover Point. When crews arrived, they found several victims and declared a Level 2 mass casualty incident.
At least 15 people were injured and taken to hospitals. Fire officials did not release details about the severity of their injuries.
The Miami Herald, citing scanner traffic at the time, reported that several victims suffered burn injuries and that at least one pediatric patient was among those injured.
Fire officials have not confirmed the exact circumstances of the incident or whether an explosion took place. The victims have not been identified.
