The United States and Iran have reached a peace deal to end military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon, according to Pakistan, which helped mediate the agreement. President Trump said the U.S. naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz will be lifted.

“The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete,” Trump said in a social media post on Sunday. “I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade.”

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the agreement followed “intensive talks” and includes the “immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.”

The official signing ceremony is scheduled for Friday in Switzerland, according to Sharif, who said mediators will facilitate meetings this week to prepare for technical talks and implementation of the agreement.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said the heads of the two delegations will hold talks on Friday to determine arrangements for the upcoming negotiations, according to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.

Gharibabadi said the 60-day negotiations will begin only after verification of U.S. commitments, including commitments related to ending the war, lifting the siege and releasing assets.

“Entering the 60-day negotiations is conditional on the implementation of these American commitments,” Gharibabadi said.

Sharif also credited Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey for helping reach the agreement.

Iranian state media said the Strait of Hormuz will be legally run in cooperation between Iran and Oman. Trump said ships could resume transit through the strait without tolls, adding: “Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”

No further details were immediately released about the enforcement mechanism for the agreement or the timeline for lifting restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz.
