Suspect barricaded inside liquor store near Nashville
A suspect is barricaded inside a liquor store in Smyrna, Tennessee, after police initially responded to reports of an active shooter, according to local officials. No injuries have been reported.
“This is no longer an active shooter situation. The suspect is currently barricaded,” the Smyrna Police Department said in an update posted Tuesday afternoon. “Law enforcement remains on scene. Please continue to avoid the area and follow official updates.”
The incident began earlier in the day near Lee Victory Parkway at Legacy Wine & Spirits, where officers responded to reports of an armed individual. Police have not confirmed whether any shots were fired or if there are any victims.
Local scanner traffic earlier suggested the suspect may have entered the store with a weapon, though this has not been officially confirmed. Tactical units remain on scene as the situation continues.
The identity of the suspect has not been released, and authorities have not disclosed a possible motive. Smyrna is a suburb located southeast of Nashville and northwest of Murfreesboro.
