A correspondent for Iranian state broadcaster Press TV was injured in a drone strike in southern Lebanon, according to the network and the journalist, who accused Israel of carrying out the attack. He said he was clearly marked as press when he was hit.

The incident happened in southern Lebanon, near the Arnoun-Yohmor-Kfartebnit roundabout. Correspondent Hadi Hoteit said he had stopped there after being told that the Lebanese army was blocking a road in the area.

Hoteit said he was wearing a press vest and helmet, and that his car also had press markings. He said he was standing outside the vehicle with his camera and a Press TV microphone when drones struck the area where he was filming.

“I was filming when the Israeli drones deliberately attacked where I was standing,” Hoteit said.

Hoteit said he was hit by six pieces of shrapnel, including one in the right side of his chest, three in his right leg and two in his left leg. He said two men came to rescue him after about 15 to 20 minutes.

Press TV said Hoteit underwent surgery for injuries sustained in the attack and was receiving medical care.

The Israeli military did not immediately comment on Hoteit’s account. In a separate statement about incidents in southern Lebanon, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said its aircraft carried out strikes after troops identified several people in vehicles approaching Israeli forces in a way that posed an immediate threat.

The IDF also said Hezbollah had fired an anti-tank missile and several mortar shells at Israeli forces in southern Lebanon earlier in the day, causing no injuries. The military said Israeli aircraft also intercepted several rockets launched by Hezbollah toward an area where Israeli forces were operating.

The incident comes during a ceasefire in Lebanon and amid a U.S.-Iran deal announced over the weekend to end the wider conflict in the region.

No further details were immediately available, and the circumstances of the strike were not independently confirmed.
