Juvenile, adult male found dead in apparent murder-suicide at Nevada airport
An apparent murder-suicide at a regional airport in Elko, Nevada left two people dead, including a juvenile male and an adult male, according to officials.
The shooting happened at about 12:30 p.m. Monday at Elko Regional Airport in northeastern Nevada. Responding officers found a deceased adult male in the terminal with what investigators said was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
During the investigation, officers also found the juvenile male in a bathroom with a gunshot wound, police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Lieutenant Shane Daz of the Elko Police Department said the adult male apparently shot and killed the child before turning the gun on himself. Police said the two knew each other, but did not say how they were connected.
Investigators said the two were not believed to be from the Elko area. Police also said they had been traveling in a rental car that broke down, and went to the airport to rent another vehicle.
Jim Foster, the airport manager, told KTVX there was a full evacuation of the area where the shooting happened. Because the airport has only one terminal, the building was fully closed.
