3 Doors Down lead singer and founder Brad Arnold dies at 47
Brad Arnold, a founder, lead singer and songwriter of 3 Doors Down, has died at the age of 47, according to a family statement.
The family said Arnold died Saturday after a battle with cancer. “With his beloved wife Jennifer and his family by his side, he passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, in his sleep,” the statement said.
Arnold was a founding member of 3 Doors Down and served as the band’s primary vocalist and a key songwriter. The Mississippi-based band rose to national prominence in the early 2000s with Kryptonite, which became one of the defining rock songs of the era.
“Kryptonite,” which Arnold wrote as a teenager while still in high school, has accumulated more than 1.2 billion streams on Spotify and over 500 million views on YouTube, according to platform figures. The song’s success propelled 3 Doors Down into sustained commercial visibility, leading to multiple platinum albums and years of arena and amphitheater touring.
Beyond his music career, the family described Arnold as “a devoted husband to Jennifer,” adding that his “kindness, humor, and generosity touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.” The statement said his faith and commitment to family were central to his life.
“The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time and kindly asks that their privacy be respected,” the statement said. “He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.”
