3 killed, 6 injured after vehicle crashes into grocery store in Los Angeles

Three people were killed and six others were injured after a vehicle crashed into a grocery store in Los Angeles, according to fire officials. Police said the crash is not being treated as intentional.

The crash occurred around 12:11 p.m. Thursday at a grocery store located at 1360 South Westwood Boulevard in the Westwood area, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) said.

Fire officials said three people were pronounced dead at the scene. Four other patients were transported to local hospitals, including two in at least serious condition and two with minor injuries. Two additional people declined transport after being evaluated at the scene.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said the crash is not being considered an intentional act. The driver of the silver sedan involved was preliminarily identified as an elderly woman.

Fire officials said a bicyclist was struck about one block away before the vehicle continued and crashed into the grocery store. When firefighters arrived, the vehicle was moved to reach multiple patients who were trapped.

Footage from the scene showed the vehicle lodged inside the front entrance of the 99 Ranch Market, near the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
