Floor reportedly collapses at New Hampshire wedding venue
A mass casualty incident has been declared after a reported floor collapse at a wedding venue in Tamworth, New Hampshire, according to early reports. New Hampshire fire officials said there were reports of multiple injuries.
The incident was reported at about 5 p.m. at 88 Philbrick Neighborhood Road, an address associated with The Preserve at Chocorua, a wedding venue in the small town of Tamworth in eastern New Hampshire, north of Concord and near the Maine border.
The New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office said its members were responding to the scene to investigate a reported floor collapse at the wedding venue. The agency said there were reports of multiple injuries.
The Tamworth Police Department said multiple fire departments were working the incident and asked people to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
Several ambulances were reported responding to the scene as emergency crews worked at the venue. Unconfirmed reports indicated that about 100 people may have been at the scene at the time.
A mass casualty incident, or MCI, is an emergency designation used when the number of victims may overwhelm local medical resources and requires a broader emergency response.
