6 people stabbed in altercation in Raleigh, North Carolina

A fight overnight in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina left six people with stab wounds, accroding to police. All of the victims suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident happened at 12:18 a.m. on Saturday along Fayetteville Street, between the 200 and 400 blocks, when Raleigh police responded to a report of a fight and found multiple people with stab wounds. The area is lined with bars and restaurants and is close to the North Carolina state capitol.

Raleigh police said a dispute involving 35-year-old Frank Lalich and a group of people escalated into a physical altercation.

In total, six victims were taken to a hospital. Police said all of them suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Their identities have not been released.

Lalich is hospitalized while receiving treatment for his injuries, according to police. He has been charged with four counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to seriously injure.

It was not immediately clear whether Lalich and the other group knew each other before the fight. It was also unclear whether any other suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident.
