Couple found dead in SUV along Colorado highway; gun and notes found inside
2 people were found dead inside an SUV parked along a highway near the Jefferson and Clear Creek county line in Colorado, authorities said. A gun and several notes were found inside the vehicle.
Deputies responded Tuesday to Highway 103 near mile marker 30 after a passerby called 911, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. The person had noticed a blue Toyota RAV4 parked there for at least two days and stopped to check on it.
The two occupants were identified as 47-year-old Joshua Young and 45-year-old Corinne Wallen, both from Missouri. Authorities said both appeared to have died from gunshot wounds to the head.
A gun was found inside the vehicle, along with several notes written by the couple on the dashboard. Authorities said license plate reader data showed they had been traveling across the country and had no known ties to the area.
The coroner’s office is conducting autopsies and will make the final determination on the cause of death.
