Oklahoma man charged with threatening to kill President Trump
An Oklahoma man has been charged after allegedly posting on social media that he was going to kill President Trump, federal prosecutors said.
Howard Raymond Gimmey, 46, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, was charged by a federal grand jury last week with making a threat against the president of the United States, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Oklahoma.
The indictment, which was unsealed Tuesday, alleges that Gimmey posted “I’m going to kill the President…” on a social media website on May 5.
Prosecutors said Gimmey knowingly and willfully made the statement and acted with recklessness as to whether it would be viewed as a true threat of violence against the president.
Gimmey faces up to five years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000 if convicted.
The case was investigated by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force in Oklahoma City, the U.S. Secret Service and the Midwest City Police Department.
