1 missing after U.S. Navy helicopter goes down in Arabian Sea
A U.S. Navy helicopter made an emergency water landing in the Arabian Sea, leaving one crew member missing as search efforts continue, according to the Navy.
The MH-60S Sea Hawk was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush and went down at about 3:30 a.m. ET Wednesday, according to U.S. Naval Forces Central Command and the U.S. 5th Fleet.
Three of the four crew members were recovered and are in stable condition aboard the George H.W. Bush. Navy assets in the region are searching for the fourth crew member, officials said.
The Navy said there is no indication the emergency landing was caused by hostile action. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
The George H.W. Bush has been operating in the Middle East since late April and is one of two U.S. aircraft carriers still in the region, CBS News reported. The incident comes as the U.S. maintains a large military presence in the region.
