Alex Jones blames ‘form of psychosis’ for false claim about Sandy Hook
Conspiracy theorist and Infowars founder Alex Jones was questioned for more than 3 hours about his comments and false claims regarding the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, which claimed the lives of 26 people, most of them young children.
The deposition was part of a defamation lawsuit filed by Scarlett Lewis, whose son was killed in the shooting more than 6 years ago. Lewis is seeking damages for allegedly targeting her in a campaign of harassment and for making false accusations on Infowars.
During the deposition, which was released by a law firm representing Lewis, Jones said he now believes that the massacre itself was not a hoax. He argued that he “almost had some form of psychosis” when he claimed that the school shooting was a “false flag” conspiracy hoax.
The video of the deposition runs for 3 hours and 15 minutes. You can watch part 1 of the deposition at the top of this article. The second part can be found below.
The shooting happened on December 14, 2012, when 20-year-old Adam Lanza shot his way into Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, a town about 7 miles (11 kilometers) east of Danbury. His rampage at the school lasted only 5 minutes but claimed the lives of 6 adults and 20 children before Lanza killed himself.
There is no evidence to suggest that the shooting was a hoax, but conspiracy theories emerged online to claim that those involved were actors. Some of those allege that the event was staged by the government to push for gun control, despite the fact that the circumstances of the massacre as well as tis victims are well documented.
Some parents who lost their children in the shooting have been the victim of threats and harassment as a result of those claims. In one such case, a woman from Florida who believes the shooting was a hoax was sentenced to 5 months in prison after sending a death threat to one of the parents.
