Active shooter at Crossgates Mall in Albany, New York


          Police and other emergency services in New York are responding to reports of an active shooter at the Crossgates Mall in the Albany suburb of Guilderland, officials and witnesses say. The complex has been put on lockdown.

The shooting happened at about 2:30 p.m. ET on Saturday when multiple shots were reportedly fired inside the mall. People at the scene reported a chaotic scene but there were no immediate reports of any injuries.

Heavily-armed officers rushed to the scene as parts of the mall were evacuated, while other people took shelter in various parts of the complex. Witnesses reported that the shooting happened after an altercation between 2 men, who fled the scene.

Crossgates Mall, which first opened in early 1984, is located in the Albany suburb of Guilderland and is the second-largest shopping mall in Upstate New York. It is home to more than 250 stores and restaurants, as well as a movie theater.
