              Cars are seen along Deerfield beach near Coral Springs while Hurricane Matthew approaches in Florida, U.S. Hundreds of flights have been canceled, Florida airports are being shuttered and train services suspended as Hurricane Matthew heads toward the U.S. southeastern coast, with passengers and goods likely to be stranded or delayed through Saturday. Atlanta-based Delta Airlines said 130 flights were canceled on Thursday after the airline halted operations at southern Florida airports including Miami. A spokeswoman for Chicago-based United Airlines said the company canceled 180 flights from Wednesday through Saturday affecting Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Orlando and Jacksonville.

 1 yr   Hurricane Matthew leaves over 100 dead in Haiti

              According to the country's embassy on Thursday, Hurricane Matthew has left at least 108 people dead in Haiti. The embassy added that the number could rise because some areas have not yet been accounted for. Four people were also killed in the Dominican Republic and one each in Colombia and in the island chain of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Matthew is currently in the Bahamas, where forecasters warned of "devastating impacts" from rain, wind and floods. The category 4 storm is expected to barrel past Andros Island and New Providence in the northwestern part of the Bahamas later on Thursday and will then head toward the Florida peninsula.

              Hurricane Matthew made landfall Tuesday morning in Haiti as a dangerous Category 4 storm with winds of 145 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center. CARE will provide hygiene kits, clean water containers, blankets, and tarps to residents. It's already providing meals at several shelters. CRS will also provide water purification kits, tents, kitchen kits, and cash so people can purchase critical items. Operation Blessing International will provide chlorine tablets to hospitals, schools, orphanages, and residents to help purify water. (CNN)
