Four people - a man, a woman, and two children - have been found deceased inside a home in Sydney's northern suburb of Davidson, according to the New South Wales Police Force. A dog was also found dead. (more)

The incident was first reported at 11:20 a.m. on Monday when officers were called to a home on Sir Thomas Mitchell Road in Davidson following a concern for welfare report, police said. They did not disclose who called police.

"Officers from Northern Beaches Local Area Command discovered the bodies of a man, a woman, a boy and a girl inside. A dog was also found deceased," NSW Police said in a brief statement. "A crime scene has been established and will be examined by forensic officers."

Detectives are continuing with their investigation but have not commented on the possible causes of deaths, or whether the deaths are accidental or the result of a crime. The identities or ages of the victims have also not been released, and it is unclear when the four died.

"No further information is available at this stage," police said.
