The abduction happened last Wednesday at about 5 p.m. when she was taken from Charlotte Court House, which is a small town in Charlotte County. It was not immediately known why it took authorities nearly a week to issue the amber alert.
The suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Dylan James Richardson, who is Annabelle's father but does not have custody of the child. Details about the circumstances of last week's abduction were not released, though authorities said Annabelle may be in extreme danger.
Investigators believe Dylan and the child may be driving in a 1995 burgundy Chevy van with Virginia license plate VMG2332. They may possibly be heading towards New Jersey, though that has not been confirmed.
A photo of Dylan is not available but he is described as a 24-year-old white male with brown hair and blue eyes, standing 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. Annabelle is a 4-year-old white female with short blond hair and green eyes, standing 3 feet tall and weighing 22 pounds. Her front tooth is broken and is black.
Anyone who sees either the suspect, the child or the vehicle is urged to call 911 immediately, or call the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office at 434-542-5141 if you have any other information that could help investigators. You can also call the Virginia State Police at 1-800-822-4453.
