Stabbing at University of Southern California, 1 dead

A 25-year-old man believed to be a faculty member has been stabbed to death at the Seely G. Mudd building on the University of Southern California (USC) campus in Los Angeles, local authorities say. (more)

The incident happened at about 4:30 p.m. PT on Friday when emergency services were called to an incident at the USC campus. A 25-year-old victim was located and pronounced dead at the scene.

A police spokesman said a suspect is in custody, but other details about the exact circumstances of the incident were not immediately available. The names of both the suspect and the victim have not been released.

"Police-related incident in progress at Seeley G Mudd in progress at Seeley G Mudd. No danger to USC or the community. Stay away from area," the university said in a text alert to students.
