The earthquake, which happened at 8:59 p.m. on Wednesday, was centered about 1.6 mile southeast of Eldon, or 17 miles southwest of Silverdale and 17 miles west of Port Orchard. It struck at a depth of 2.8 miles, making it a very shallow earthquake.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has put the preliminary magnitude of the earthquake at 4.2.

Residents across the region have reported feeling the earthquake, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. The National Tsunami Warning Center in Alaska added that there is no threat of a tsunami.

"Mini earthquake just happened. Strong enough to shake the couch and have the house make noises like it's cracking but only for a few seconds," Elijah Martin wrote on Twitter.
