Specific details about the circumstances of the girl's disappearance remain unclear, though she is said to have last been seen at around 3:30 or 4 p.m. on Saturday. Deputies were in the process of issuing a Florida Amber Alert on Saturday night until the child's mother changed her story.

According to the mother's initial statement, she and Nataly were offered a ride home to the Tavaras Cove Mobile Home Park in the 2400 block of Avenida Madrid Este. When they arrived there, the mother claimed that she had exited the vehicle before the driver sped off with Nataly still inside the car.

"After further investigation the mother admitted to detectives that she was not at the store, she did not accept a ride from a Hispanic male and the child was NOT kidnapped," the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The mother admitted that she had been drinking most of the day and now claims she can't remember where her daughter is. The mother, who will be facing criminal charges, has told investigators that she last saw Nataly at around 3:30 or 4 p.m.

Because the mother changed her story, the case does no longer qualify for an amber alert.

Deputies and detectives are searching the area for the child. Anyone who sees Nataly or has any information about her possible whereabouts is urged to call the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office at 688-3400 or the nearest law enforcement agency.

Nataly is described as a 6-year-old Hispanic female with black hair and brown eyes, standing 3 feet tall and weighing about 50 pounds. She was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt with a bear on the front and black leggings. Nataly speaks both English and Spanish.
