California Amber Alert: Baby abducted from San Francisco

A California Amber Alert has been issued for 1-year-old Makai Bangoura after he was allegedly abducted from San Francisco by his father who is believed to be suicidal. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 immediately. (more)

The incident happened on Thursday when Makai was taken from San Francisco by 30-year-old Jason Lam. Details about the circumstances of the abduction were not immediately disclosed by law enforcement.

On Friday afternoon, an amber alert was issued for San Francisco County, Marin County, San Mateo County, Contra Costa County, and Alameda County. Hours later, just after 6 p.m., the amber alert was expanded statewide.

The father is believed to have taken the child in a 2000 tan Toyota Corolla with California license plate number 5SEY238. "The suspect may be suicidal and should not be approached without law enforcement coordination," the amber alert said.

Jason Lam is described as a 30-year-old Asian male with black hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing about 145 pounds. Makai is a 1-year-old black male with brown hair and brown eyes, standing 2 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 40 pounds.

Anyone who sees either Makai, Lam, or the suspect vehicle is urged to call 911 immediately, or call the San Francisco Police Department at (415) 553-0123 if you have any other information that could help investigators.
